BELMONT OUTFALL

General Description


Originally constructed in1976 to service the Belmont STP and consisted of an elevated trestle discharging into the surf zone of Belmont Beach (Laxton and Laxton 1986).

Sewerage Catchment:

  • The new outfall now services both Toronto and Belmont STPs with effluent now being diverted to the Belmont STP from the Swansea area.

Sewage Treatment:  

  • Toronto and Belmont STPs employ secondary treatment .

Outfall:

  • The offshore outfall consists of a trenched 1600mm pipeline extending approximately 1500m offshore. The linear diffuser is some 120 m long with 55 risers each with a nozzle 110 mm in diameter. The diffuser is in water depths ranging from 22 to 24 m.
